Submit a Form with Labguru Mobile App

Turn a protocol into a mobile form, then fill it in and submit it from anywhere.

Forms let you capture structured data on your phone or tablet, wherever the work happens. You design the form once as a protocol in Labguru. In the Labguru Mobile App, anyone can then fill it in and submit it, and each submission creates a new experiment in Labguru with the answers saved.

When to use forms

Forms work best for structured, repeated tasks, such as:

• Daily or routine checks that need the same data every time
• Quality control, where structured inputs keep results consistent
• Inventory or sample tracking that needs frequent updates
• Research data collection with standardized fields

They're especially useful away from a desk:

• Greenhouses and outdoor research: record environmental data, sample conditions and observations as they happen.
• Clean rooms and aseptic areas: document each step without paper.
• Confined spaces: log data where a laptop isn't practical.
• Fieldwork and on-site inspections: enter and submit data on the spot.

Set up a form in Labguru

A protocol appears as a form in the app when it meets two conditions:

1. It's tagged Labhandy. Add the tag to the protocol in Labguru. It's one word, and capitalization doesn't matter.
2. It contains a Form element. Add a Form element to the protocol and build the fields you need for data entry.

When you build the form:

• Only the first Form element is used. If a protocol has more than one, the app shows only the first.
• Field names become prompts. Each field's name tells the user what to enter, so make it clear, for example Chamber temperature (¬∞C).
• Use the field type that fits. The app supports text, number, text area, select lists, checkboxes, radio buttons, date and time fields. A select list can pull its options from your account, for example an Equipment select field lists your equipment.
• Expect most fields to be required. In the app, fields are required even if you didn't mark them as required in Labguru. Required fields are marked with *.

Fill in and submit a form

1. On the home screen, tap Submit Form. You'll see every form available to you.
2. Tap the form you want to fill in.

3. Answer the questions. Longer forms are split into steps, shown at the top of the screen. Tap Save & Next to move to the next step, or Previous to go back.
4. On the last step, choose the project and folder for the new experiment. The experiment name is filled in for you with the form's name, your name and the date, and you can change it.
5. Tap Submit.

A message confirms the form was submitted. A new experiment is created from the protocol in the project and folder you chose, with your answers in its form.
