The Customer Portal is where your customers interact with your lab remotely — submitting samples for testing, requesting kits, submitting materials, or requesting shipments — and where you configure and manage that experience on the back end.
It connects directly to Labguru — submissions sent through the portal create samples and requests in your Labguru account automatically.
Roles
The portal has three roles:
| Role | Who | Can do |
|---|---|---|
| Portal Owner | Your team | Everything Admin can do, plus Settings (Labguru connection) and Branding |
| Admin | Your team | Manage submissions, customers, users, service types, and documents |
| External User | Your customers | Create and track their own organisation's sample submissions, view shared documents |
External Users only ever see their own organisation's data — they cannot see other customers' submissions, users, or documents.
Navigation
Admins and Super Admins see the full sidebar:
- Sample Submissions — view and manage all customer submissions
- Customers — manage customer accounts
- Users — manage user access
- Service Types — configure what services are offered and how they map to Labguru
- Documents — upload reference files for customers
- Settings (Super Admin only) — Labguru API configuration
- Branding (Super Admin only) — portal appearance
External Users see a reduced sidebar — just Sample Submissions (their own only) and Documents (view/download only). They don't see Customers, Users, Service Types, Settings, or Branding.
Logging in
You'll receive an invitation email to set your password on first login. After that, log in at your portal URL — each lab has its own subdomain (e.g. demo in https://demo.my-customer-portal.labguru.com) — with your email and password.
External Users are invited by their organisation's Admin contact, not by signing up directly. If a customer needs access for a new colleague, an Admin invites them from the Customers section.
